Post-Apocalyptic ‘The Last of Us’ Adaptation Gains its Joel and Ellie

‘The Mandalorian’ star Pablo Pascal will portray Joel while ‘Game of Thrones’ badass Bella Ramsey will play Ellie in her second venture with HBO.

The highly anticipated HBO series adaptation of post-apocalyptic PlayStation game The Last of Us has casted its two most iconic roles. Pablo Pascal (The Mandalorian, Wonder Woman: 1984) will portray Joel while Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) will play Ellie.

The adaptation will follow the same storyline in the game, 20 years after modern civilization falls. "What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the US and depend on each other for survival," WarnerMedia's press release said.

The series will be penned by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) in partnership with Last of Us writer and creative director Neil Druckmann, with Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole) set to direct. The critically acclaimed PlayStation-exclusive horror franchise The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog, is widely labeled as one of the best video games of all time. We can’t wait to see Lyanna Mormont kick some Cordyceps ass. Are we sensing a new Baby Yoda to Pascal’s Din Djarin?
