Portfolio, Teletoon Zip Hood Into Development

Portfolio Ent. suits up for MIPTV with HOOD, an original, cross-platform, half-hour animated comedy-adventure series about the exploits of a secret global organization of exceptional teens who don super-charged hoodies to defend the Earth from all manner of weirdness and danger. Working with TELETOON Canada to develop the series, Portfolio Ent. is also exploring the use of innovative digital content to support and enhance the super-powered show.

Howie Shia, Gran Prix winner of the 2007 Tokyo Anime Fair, created the series and is being assisted by Story Editor Mark Leiren-Young, an award-winning writer, on the development of the bible and initial scripts. HOOD is a fusion of the grand mysteries, recurring rivalries and comical tragedies of life as an extraordinary teen facing inconceivable situations. Portfolio Entertainment anticipates bringing the HOOD characters to life with a fresh and exciting blend of animation styles including 2D digital.

Geared toward tween audiences, HOOD chronicles the exploits of a mysterious team of hoodie-clad super-teens committed to unearthing, monitoring and combating supernatural threats. HOOD agents wear designer hoodies custom-made to enhance each teen's individual specialty. Our core team includes Chuck, our latest recruit, who has recently moved from Montreal to the prairies and is coping with the change by uber-crushing on the HOOD's air-borne field commander, Loona - a beautiful but hard-nosed Californian who barely knows he exists. Chuck is quickly initiated into a team which includes Parker, a hyper-agile parkour runner who cut her teeth on the floating sidewalks of Hong Kong; Plus/Minus a static-charged skateboarder from the mean streets of south London; and Photocynthia, a solar-powered Icelandic vegan who can bench press a water bison.
