Portfolio Entertainment Embarks on All-New Adventures with ‘Doki’

Toronto-based animation studio commissioned by Discovery Kids Latin America for new seasons of hit preschool animated series.

TORONTO, ON – Distributor Portfolio Entertainment is set to produce seasons three and four of Doki, for Discovery Kids Latin America. The animated series follows the ever curious Doki and his five friends, all members of the Worldwide Expedition Club, as they travel the world and explore distant lands and cultures, while answering the big questions of inquisitive preschoolers.

The new seasons will be comprised of 48 x 11’ episodes and 2 x 30’ specials. In addition to being developed and produced in-house, the new episodes will be animated by Portfolio Animation, the company’s new studio located in Toronto’s creative district. Pre-production on the new seasons has already begun with delivery starting in September 2016.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Follow Doki and his friends as they travel all over the planet to discover the wonders of the world. Doki has a lot of questions and he'll go as far as it takes to get the answers! He's a born explorer, just like his best friends Oto, Mundi, Fico, Gabi and Anabella. Together, they're Team Doki. Anything can spark an expedition. One moment, the Team is just hanging around their clubhouse, and the next Doki is struck with a great question. What were castles really like? Where do rubber bands come from? Why won't my balloon float? Suddenly – it's expedition time! Will they find their answer in China or Brazil? At the bottom of the sea or in the International Space Station? Wherever they go, it's sure to be a fascinating expedition!

“We’re very excited to green light new seasons of this tent pole series, and once again bring Portfolio Entertainment on board to develop them so that our preschool viewers can continue to enjoy the adventures of Doki and the Worldwide Expedition Club on Discovery Kids,” commented Carolina Lightcap, Executive Vice-president and Chief Content Officer, Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic.

“Discovery Kids Latin America has been an incredible broadcast partner in building DOKI into an entertaining international brand and we’re excited to help continue this success with the production of these new episodes,” added Julie Stall, Senior Vice President, Production, Portfolio Entertainment. “With the addition of our new animation studio, we are very happy to draw on the ingenuity and creative excellence of our entire team from start to finish for this series.”
