A Swiss court granted Roman Polanski bail at $4.5 million, allowing him to remain under house arrest at his Alpine resort chalet, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER via THE ASSOCIATED PRESS.

Polanski must remain in Switzerland, where he was arrested last month, until authorities determine whether to extradite him to the United States for criminal sex charges dated back to 1977.

He must remain under constant electronic surveillance at his chalet.
