Pixomondo Brings Vacation Inspiration to Times Square

Los Angeles, CA --

New York City's Times Square feels more inspirational this week thanks to vacation-centric animations created by visual effects company Pixomondo to promote TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site. Three separate thirty-second brand spots are now being featured on the NASDAQ Tower and Marquee and the Reuters Tower in Times Square, running simultaneously throughout the day. A live feed of the work can be viewed on the Times Square webcam.

Pixomondo’s creative brand spots prominently feature TripAdvisor’s signature owl logo, and the final animations also include a mix of graphics, text and eye-catching footage of the Eiffel Tower, Tahitian huts and a Kenyan safari.

“What was interesting about this project was figuring out a creative way to showcase TripAdvisor to grab the attention of somebody looking at it from Times Square – an already bustling location,” explained Pixomondo Executive Producer David Garber.

Due to the scale of the project, everything shown was required to be simplified enough to be readable on the massive screens wrapping around the buildings. With this in mind, Pixomondo opted for big striking visuals that combined graphic and live action elements instead of smaller images that would have otherwise gotten lost in all the competitive noise. The animations will run in Times Square through October 9 and are scheduled to run again from November 26 to December 10.

“Considering the sheer technicality of executing a project of this scale, the entire experience was surprisingly smooth and efficient,” Garber continued. “TripAdvisor was an excellent partner – they really valued our design expertise and brought a lot to the table – and NASDAQ was great about providing all the proper specs so that everyone was on the right track from the start.”

“We’re excited to inspire the millions of travelers that pass through Times Square with these beautiful destination-themed spots,” said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor.
