Pixar set to unveil its latest creations in Annecy, including a screening of the studio’s new film ‘Cars 3’ and its accompanying short, ‘Lou,’ alongside a sneak preview of footage from director Lee Unkrich’s ‘Coco.’

‘Cars 3’ opens in U.S. theatres on June 16.

Organizers of the Annecy International Animated Film Festival have announced that the 2017 edition of the festival, running June 12-17, will host the French premiere of Pixar Animation Studio’s forthcoming animated feature, Cars 3, and the accompanying short film Lou, as well as a sneak peek at footage from director Lee Unkrich’s Coco.

French Premiere of Disney•Pixar’s Cars 3 and Short Film Lou, First Look at Coco

The French premiere of the new Disney•Pixar movie Cars 3, directed by Brian Fee (story artist Cars & Cars 2), produced by Kevin Reher (A Bug’s Life & La Luna short) and co-produced by Andrea Warren (LAVA short), will be held on Friday, June 16.

From the studio behind the shorts Lava and recent Oscar-winner Piper, comes Lou. Director Dave Mullins and producer Dana Murray will be in Annecy to present their short that tells the story of what happens when a toy-stealing bully ruins recess for a playground full of kids. LOU opens in U.S. theatres on June 16, playing ahead of Cars 3.

Come and meet director Lee Unkrich and producer Darla K. Anderson, who previously teamed up for 2010’s Oscar and Golden Globe-winning feature Toy Story 3, on Friday, June 16th at Bonlieu Grande Salle. They will present footage, along with co-director Adrian Molina (story artist on Monsters University), from their upcoming feature Coco, which arrives in U.S. theatres on November 22.

The screening will be preceded by the fifth edition of the Disney Art Challenge Ceremony, where students have been invited to create a piece on the theme “road trip.” The winners will receive their prize from the director and producer of Pixar short Lou. The event will be followed by a signing session with Lee Unkrich, Adrian Molina, Darla K. Anderson and Dave Mullins and Dana Murray at the Boutique du Festival.

Public Outdoor Screening of Cars

Annecy 2017 will also host a public outdoor screening of Cars. Directed by John Lasseter, Cars grossed nearly $462 million worldwide. It was nominated for two Oscars and one Golden Globe, winning the first ever Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature Film.

The screening will be held on Friday, June 16 on the Pâquier.
