Phoebe Waller-Bridge to Pen ‘Tomb Raider’ Series for Prime Video

The project, based on the popular franchise spanning multiple video games, films, and an anime series, is the latest in an overall deal between the streaming giant and the ‘Fleabag’ author.

Ready for the most iconic female adventurer of all time to hit the small screen? THR reports that Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) is set to pen a live-action Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. The project, which is based on the popular franchise spanning multiple video games, films, and even an anime series, is the latest from Waller-Bridge’s overall Amazon deal.

Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander both previously graced the silver screen as the infamous pistol wielding archaeologist Lara Croft, while Hayley Atwell voiced the explorer in an anime series from Netflix. Camilla Luddington, Keeley Hawes and Minnie Driver also lent their voice talents to various video game iterations.

While Waller-Bridge is not set to star, she will executive produce alongside Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt, who left executive positions at the streamer to launch their own production company. Dmitri M. Johnson will also executive produce under his dj2 banner.

While the series is in development, there’s no word on what source materials may inspire the plot, or who will handle the VFX. We just hope there’s dinosaurs this time.
