Peter Dinklage to Play ‘Toxic’ Hero in Upcoming Reboot

Original creators Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz are set to remake their cult classic film ‘Toxic Avenger,’ an exploration of ‘environmental themes’ mixed with the vibes of ‘Deadpool.’

The Imp of King’s Landing is back! This time, Game of Throne’s Peter Dinklage will slip into the noxious shoes of the mutant superhero Toxic Avenger in a remake of Troma Entertainment’s 1984 action-black comedy. The film will retain the classic origin story, in which an innocent underdog is pushed into toxic waste and gains unnatural superpowers (basically like the Joker, but hopefully with less tattoos). The film will also retain its sense of humor, being described as an exploration of “environmental themes” mixed with the vibes of Deadpool. We’re hoping they keep some of the campy violence and effects, even with the bigger budget.

Toxic Avenger will be backed by Legendary, directed by Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore), and produced by original creators Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz. Keeping Kaufman and Herz on board to maintain the original feel of the cult classic film is a genius move. This reboot has the potential to be gnarly. In a good way.
