‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ to Premiere on Both Hulu and Disney+

Don’t get too excited… Hulu members can watch the first episode from December 20 through January 31, but still need to head to Disney+ for the second and all subsequent which will air weekly.

In an interesting marketing move, the upcoming Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians will now premiere concurrently on both the Mouse House streamer and Hulu starting December 20, author Rick Riordan recently revealed. However, only the first episode will air on Hulu, and will remain until January 31. Fans of the series will still have to head to Disney+ to view the second episode and subsequent new episodes, which will air weekly.

Based on the popular book series by Rick Riordan, the show takes Percy Jackson on a dangerous quest. Outrunning monsters and outwitting gods, he must journey across America to return Zeus’ master bolt and stop an all-out war. After losing his mother, Percy is sheltered at Camp Half-Blood, a sanctuary for demigod children. He must prove himself and confront his origins once he discovers he too is a demigod and will take off into the perils of pursuing enemies in search of the Underworld. With the help of his quest mates Annabeth and Grover, Percy’s journey will lead him closer to the answers he seeks: how to fit into a world where he feels out of place, if he'll ever see his mother again, and if he can ever find out who he’s destined to be.

Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson, alongside Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth Chase and Aryan Simhadri as Grover Underwood.

Produced by Disney Branded Television and 20th Television, the series is created by Riordan and Jon Steinberg. Steinberg, Dan Shotz, Riordan, and Rebecca Riordan serve as executive producers alongside The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein; Bert Salke; The Gotham Group’s Jeremy Bell, and D.J. Goldberg; James Bobin; Jim Rowe; Monica Owusu-Breen; Anders Engström; and Jet Wilkinson.

VFX companies on the series include Industrial Light & Magic, Lola VFX, Marz VFX, Rogue One VFX, and The Third Floor.
