Entertainment One’s preschool sensation ‘Peppa Pig’ launching on South Korea’s CJ Tooniverse in October.

LONDON -- Entertainment One‘s Peppa Pig continues to gain momentum throughout Asia as the licensor unveiled fresh developments for its global preschool entertainment property in South Korea.

The first series of the award-winning preschool TV show will launch on air from 10th October 2016 on the country’s leading animation channel CJ Tooniverse.

To maximize the exposure of the leading national broadcaster, eOne is readying a consumer products launch for the brand and has appointed Gideon Co. Ltd as master toy partner for Peppa Pig in South Korea. The firm will distribute Character Options’ extensive toy line, which will debut at retail from October 2016 alongside the broadcast and in preparation for the Christmas retail season.

eOne has also signed YeaRim-I as publishing partner for the brand. The leading publisher recently launched a series of bilingual Peppa Pig storybooks that have been well received in the market and additional storybooks and book sets are scheduled for launch in Q4 2016.

The brand’s entry into South Korea follows recently announced news that eOne has appointed Dorothy Chan as Head of Asia to oversee the management of its brands across the Asia region. Peppa Pig merchandise is now widely available across South East Asia including Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines in addition to multiple regions across China including Hong Kong and Taiwan. To maximize commercial opportunities for the property in the local market, the licensor is gearing up for its first Peppa Pig brand conference in Asia which will be hosted at the CJ E&M building on 12th October to network with potential licensees and trade partners.

Dorothy Chan, Head of Asia at Entertainment One Family said, “We are delighted to be taking our first steps into the Korean market with Peppa Pig. Asia is a key strategic focus in the international expansion of Peppa Pig and by partnering with best in class broadcasters and licensing partners we are building a strong foundation for future growth.”
