The Hulu hit’s star and co-creator joins the already star-studded Lucasfilm production cast in an undisclosed supporting role as pre-production edges towards opening shoots.
Another day, another all-star casting announcement for upcoming Star Wars spinoff series Obi-Wan Kenobi. Joining ranks with Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Kumail Nankiani, Indira Varma, and others is PEN15 star and co-creator Maya Erskine! Erskine, also known for Insecure and Scoob! will serve in an undisclosed supporting role.
Kenobi takes place 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith and nine years before A New Hope, during Obi-Wan’s time on Tatooine as a Jedi-in-hiding. While exact plot points have not been revealed, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has teased the “rematch of the century,” between Obi-Wan and Vader, which is all but confirmed by Christensen’s casting. An appearance by Luke would also not be out of the question, given the timeline.
Deborah Chow will direct while Kennedy, Chow, McGregor, Michelle Rejwan and writer Joby Harold will executive produce. The series is currently in pre-production with initial shoots due to begin soon.
The Disney+ miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi is currently set to premiere in 2022.
