Pandemic Standardizes 3D Production with SOFTIMAGE|XSI

Softimage Co. announced that Los Angeles-based Pandemic Studios, creators of three upcoming console titles, FULL SPECTRUM WARRIOR, MERCENARIES and STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT, is standardizing its entire 3D pipeline with SOFTIMAGE|XSI, the leading nonlinear 3D production environment. The three phase transition, which will take place over the next six months and also includes the purchase of multiple licenses of SOFTIMAGE|XSI software, will replace all competitive 3D tools currently used at Pandemic Studios.

"With excellent polygon modeling and texturing tools as well as some of the most advanced character tools available on the market, we felt there couldn't be a better time to standardize with SOFTIMAGE|XSI across our facility," said Pandemic co-founder and exec art director Carey Chico."The comprehensive character tools, the non-destructive animation mixing, and the real-time shader tools are all a dream-come-true for any professional game developer. Plus, having a single tool in our facility will certainly streamline production as we prepare to take on increasingly challenging projects. The rich capabilities of the software combined with the exceptional support we've always received from Softimage give us the edge we need to succeed in the highly competitive gaming market."

"With SOFTIMAGE|XSI, we truly get the best out of our artists. It's their 3D software of choice, and it allows them to work more efficiently and be more productive than any other system," said Josh Resnick, president of Pandemic Studios. "In making this transition, however, we chose more than just software - we chose a partner. We have a long history with Softimage, and we're extremely pleased to see the aggressive development of features and functionality taking place with XSI. That gives us tremendous confidence because we believe the production pipeline we build today will only increase in features and functionality over time."
