As part of its Sunday Symposia community cultural series, the Palisades Free Library at the IBM Center in Palisades, New York, is hosting an animation panel presentation focused on animators who are living or have lived in the area. The symposium will be held January 12, 2014.

Panelists include Jerry Lieberman and Jeremiah Dickey, as well as Sabelle Frasca, who will be telling animator Robert Breer’s story, and David and Holly Seeger, who will present never-before-seen interviews with animator Hal Seeger.

Jerry Lieberman is a designer, director and producer of animation and mixed media. For several decades he has created and directed hundreds of award-winning commercials, music videos, corporate films and educational/entertainment projects through his Manhattan-based studio, Jerry Lieberman Productions.

Jeremiah Dickey has been creating fine hand-drawn animation since 1997, working both independently and in cahoots with several NYC studios. Since 2001 he has frequently collaborated with filmmaker Emily Hubley, creating animation for many documentaries and films. He currently produces animation for TED-Ed, an educational initiative of the TED Conferences.

Robert Breer (1926-2011). Widely regarded as one of the ‘founding members of the American avant-garde,’ experimental animator Robert Breer is well known for his films combining abstract painting, line drawings, rotoscoping, 16mm and 8mm film footage, photographs, and 3D objects. Breer taught film and animation at Cooper Union in NYC from 1971-2001. He lived in Palisades from 1960-1979. His story will told by Sabelle Frasca.

Hal Seeger (1917-2005) was best known for ABC’s “The Milton The Monster Show,” and “Batfink,” his cartoon series for syndication and Saturday morning television in the 1960’s. In later years, he served as CEO of Today Video Inc. Hal lived in Palisades from 2004-2005. His story will be told by David and Holly Seeger and will showcase never-before-seen footage of Hal interviewed in the late 1990’s.
