‘Outer Wilds’ Takes Best Game, Game Design and Original Property at 2020 BAFTA Game Awards

Honor for first time animation award goes to ‘Luigi’s Manion 3.’  

LONDON -- British Academy Games Awards have announced 2020 winners, with Outer Wilds, an open world mystery about a solar system trapped in an endless time loop, taking Best Game, Game Design and Original Property.

Award highlights include:

  • Outer Wilds wins Best Game, Game Design and Original Property
  • Disco Elysium wins Debut Game, Narrative and Music
  • Observation wins British Game
  • Untitled Goose Game won Family Game
  • Martti Suosalo (Control) wins Performer in a Supporting Role
  • Gonzalo Martin (Life is Strange 2, episodes 2-5) wins Performer in a Leading Role
  • Call of Duty: Mobile wins the public vote for EE Mobile Game of the Year
  • Luigi’s Mansion 3 won in the new Animation category
  • Sayonara Wild Hearts won Artistic Achievement
  • Ape Out won Audio Achievement
  • Apex Legends won for Multiplayer
  • Path of Exile won for Evolving Game
  • Kind Words (lo fi chill beats to write to) won Games Beyond Entertainment
  • Death Stranding won in the new Technical Achievement category

Writer and designer, Hideo Kojima (Death Stranding), was honored with the Fellowship, the highest honor the Academy can bestow.

The ceremony, hosted by Dara O’Briain, was live streamed through BAFTA’s social platforms including YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Twitch.
