Nouns Fest 2024 Bringing Global Animation Talent to Los Angeles

Nouns Fest 2024 will feature 50 new animated shorts from global creators, funded by a $1 million grant pool, and highlight three premieres from award-winning Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.

This October, Nouns Fest 2024 will showcase 50 innovative animated shorts from global creators at LA’s historic United Theater. Scheduled for October 10, the festival will present a diverse selection of films funded by digital arts collective Nouns.

Nouns Fest marks the culmination of a global search for top animation talent, which began in January with a $1 million grant pool. The festival received more than 400 pitches, awarding 50 grants ranging from $7,500 to $20,000. The event will feature 38 “Short Shorts” (up to 30 seconds) and 12 “Tall Shorts” (up to five minutes). Check out the full list of finalists.

Highlighting the festival will be three new animated shorts from Emmy and Annie Award-winning Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. The event promises an unparalleled experience for animation enthusiasts, with tickets available now at

“We’ve been blown away by the astounding creativity and breadth of ideas that were submitted. The overwhelming response confirms our belief that we’re filling a huge void in the market by funding short-form animation. We can’t wait to share the work from this amazing group of animators,” said Nouns Fest co-founder and Playground Productions executive Chris Waters.

“From the start, our goal has been to empower animators to show us what they would do if they had absolutely full creative control and no restraints,” added Nouns Fest co-founder Eric Towner, also a co-founder of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. “As the animation industry undergoes huge changes, we want to focus on the most important part of animation: pure creativity.”

Nouns Fest is co-founded by industry veterans including Waters and Towner, alongside Walter Newman, Joel Cares, Joshua Fisher, and award-winning animator Goldy. The festival is supported by Nouns, an organization funding various creative projects through digital collectible sales.
