Norway’s Morten Loke Directing ‘Magic of Love’

Independent animated feature to feature the voices of John Goodman and Kathleen Turner.

Morten Loke, the director of Norway’s first low-budget splatter movie, is crowdfunding a new project, Magic of Love, featuring the voice talents of John Goodman and Kathleen Turner.

Billed as an “e-motion captured animated movie,” Magic of Love is a motion capture project that also incorporates key-frame animation.

“We will record video of John Goodman and Kathleen Turner and the rest of the ensemble to use as image-based motion-capture,” Loke says. “We want their upper body mimic to translate into the final on-screen character as much as possible. Kathleen Turner’s character though, will for the most part be traditional key-frame animation since she’s a spider.”

Here is the film’s synopsis:

Sam the Dog makes a drab living as a farmer, but he yearns to win the heart of the lovely Elise the Fox, who is hosting the world’s biggest magician competition nearby. Sam sets out to win the competition despite not being much of an illusionist; lucky for him, his new farmhand, Harold the Turtle, once trained with Houndini himself. Things are looking up until a formidable contestant the wicked Estrella the Spider starts playing dirty. Only through the real magic of love and friendship will Sam and his companions seize victory.

“Kathleen Turner accepted the role mainly because she loved the character,” Loke adds. “By playing a washed out Diva Spider we wanted to give her the opportunity to make fun of the way many people perceive the hard times in her life, so Kathleen has got tons of self-irony playing this part. John Goodman also loved the main character Sam the Dog, and has got a love-relation to the ‘animation’ genre!”
