Nominations Announced for 78th Golden Globe Awards

DreamWorks’ ‘The Croods: A New Age,’ Pixar’s ‘Onward’ and ‘Soul,’ Netflix’s ‘Over the Moon,’ and Cartoon Saloon’s ‘Wolfwalkers’ snag nominations for best animated feature.

Nominations were announced this morning for the 78th Golden Globe Awards, live from the Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills, California. Past Golden Globe winners Sarah Jessica Parker and Taraji P. Henson unveiled the nominees in 25 categories spanning motion picture and television. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will return this year as hosts of the awards ceremony, which will be presented virtually on February 28.

Best Motion Picture - Animated

  • The Croods: A New Age - (DreamWorks Animation; Universal Pictures)

  • Soul - (Walt Disney Pictures / Pixar Animation Studios; Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)
  • Wolfwalkers – (Cartoon Saloon / Melusine; Apple / GKIDS)

Best Television Series – Drama

  • The Crown – Netflix (Left Bank Pictures / Sony Pictures Television)
  • Lovecraft Country – HBO (HBO / Afemme / Monkeypaw / Bad Robot / Warner Bros. Television)
  • The Mandalorian – Disney+ (Lucasfilm Ltd.)
  • Ozark – Netflix (MRC Television)
  • Ratched – Netflix (Fox21 Television Studios)  

Best Original Score – Motion Picture

  • Alexander Desplat – The Midnight Sky
  • Ludwig Göransson – Tenet
  • James Newton Howard – News of the World
  • Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross – Mank
  • Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, Jon Batiste – Soul
