Nine VR Works Selected to Compete at Annecy 2019

Organizers of the 43rd annual animation festival have announced their competitive virtual reality lineup chosen from 90 projects submitted from 30 countries.

Organizers of the 2019 Annecy International Animation Film Festival have announced the official selection of nine Virtual Reality projects that will compete at the upcoming festival, being held June 10-15.

This year, within the context of the transversal XR@Annecy, the VR Works have entered into competition status, with over 90 projects submitted from around 30 different countries. 47% of the submissions came from France or the USA; Among the projects, more than 30% were directed or co-directed by women, and two of these are in competition; Among the selected works, four were French directed or co-produced, testifying to VR’s dynamism in France!

The official selection of VR Works was done by Yves Nougarède (Films & Program Planning Manager CITIA) and Clémence Bragard (Independent Events Manager specialized in animation film, and Programmer of the National Animation Film Festival for the Afca).
