Veteran production and development exec Marjorie Cohn has been promoted to the newly created position of evp, development and original programming, at Nickelodeon. Based in New York, Cohn will oversee all of Nickelodeon's ongoing program development and current series production activities in New York, Los Angeles and Canada
"Margie has provided great creative leadership in development and production of series over the past several years, leading such Nick hits as SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS and THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS to the screen," said Cyma Zarghami, president of Nickelodeon Television, to whom Cohn will continue to report to. "She is a champion of innovative ideas while continuing to take a true 'kid-first' approach to creating programming for our audience."
A member of the network strategy team, Cohn will continue to oversee Nickelodeon's creative exec teams on both the east and west coasts, managing the creative direction and coordination efforts between series production, on-air promotions, marketing and consumer products.
Since 2002, Cohn had been svp, production and then svp production and development. She managed the production of all animation and live-action series for Nickelodeon including such hits as SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, THE ADVENTURES OF JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS, THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS, CHALKZONE, AS TOLD BY GINGER, DRAKE & JOSH, ALL THAT, THE AMANDA SHOW, THE NICK CANNON SHOW and NICK NEWS WITH LINDA ELLERBEE. She was also responsible for overseeing development and production of the RUGRATS' ALL GROWED UP special, and its spin-off series ALL GROWN UP.
Prior to that, Cohn was vp/exec producer, current series, overseeing production of RUGRATS, THE WILD THORNBERRYS, HEY ARNOLD!, KENAN AND KEL, COUSIN SKEETER and THE SECRET WORLD OF ALEX MACK.
A 17-year veteran of Nickelodeon, Cohn began her career at the network in 1986 as a unit manager and shortly after became a producer working on all Nickelodeon productions including DOUBLE DARE and DON'T JUST SIT THERE. In addition, she created and produced Nickelodeon's GET THE PICTURE and was exec in charge of production for ROUNDHOUSE and CLARISSA EXPLAINS IT ALL, both hit shows for Nickelodeon.
Prior to joining Nickelodeon, Cohn was a freelance producer for various companies including WNET/Thirteen and Reeves Corp. Services.
