New Trailer & Poster Unveiled for ‘A Monster Calls’

New trailer for director J.A. Bayona’s fantasy feature showcases stunning VFX created by El Ranchito, MPC, Headless and Glassworks Barcelona.

Focus Features has unveiled a new trailer and poster for A Monster Calls, the fantasy film from director J.A. Bayona (The Impossible, The Orphanage).

Based upon an original idea by Siobhan Dowd, A Monster Calls is adapted from the novel written by Patrick Ness, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. Billed as a visually spectacular drama, A Monster Calls follows 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall), who, while dealing with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness, a less-than-sympathetic grandmother (Sigourney Weaver) and bullying classmates, finds a most unlikely ally when a Monster appears at his bedroom window. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of “courage, loss and faith.” Toby Kebbell plays Conor’s father, and Liam Neeson stars in performance-capture and voiceover the Monster.

Check out the new poster and trailer, which showcases the stunning visual effects created for the film by VFX houses El Ranchito, MPC, Headless and Glassworks Barcelona:

A Monster Calls releases nationwide from Focus Features on October 21, 2016.
