New Trailer for Live-Action ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’ Released

A new trailer for the live-action film version of Kiki's Delivery Service hits the web.

A new trailer for the live-action film version of Kiki's Delivery Service has hit the web.

Based on the 1985 fantasy novel series by Eiko Kadono, Kiki's Delivery Service follows the story of a young witch who uses her flying broom to start a delivery business. Hayao Miyazaki directed an anime adaptation of the story in 1989, and Disney released an English-language version of the film in 1998. The look of the new live-action film is reportedly heavily influenced by Miyazaki's designs and storytelling.

The trailer previews Mai Kuraki's theme song "Wake Me Up," and also shows the first footage of Kiki's black cat Jiji:

Kiki is portrayed by actress Shoshiba Fuka, and her black cat Jiji is played by K-ON!'s Minako Kotobuki. The film is set to open in Japan on March 1, 2014.
