The CW greenlit a new version of LA FEMME NIKITA, according to the HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The new series will find Nikita, a former criminal who is transformed by the government into an assassin, going rogue and a new assassin is found to replace her. McG is the exec producer alongside writers Peter Johnson and Craig Silverstein. Danny Cannon (CSI) will direct the pilot. Warner Bros. and Wonderland Prods. are producing.
The franchise started as a Luc Besson-helmed French thriller in 1990. The film was remade as POINT OF NO RETURN, starring Bridget Fonda. USA Network brought the story to TV in 1997.
