New Director Named In Development Of Hong Kong Disney

Angus Cheng has been named director of development for Hong Kong by Walt Disney Imagineering. Cheng will serve as the point man for Walt Disney Imagineering's Hong Kong-based project team, which is developing the new theme park resort on Lantau Island. The Hong Kong Disneyland project includes a Disneyland-branded theme park, hotels and a retail, dining and entertainment complex. The new park is scheduled to open in 2005/2006. In this role, he will serve as a liaison between the Hong Kong SAR government and the Imagineering team in the United States. Cheng's initial focus will be establishing Walt Disney Imagineering's development operations in Hong Kong, with responsibility for local organizational design, procurement and hiring strategies. A resident of Hong Kong, Cheng most recently spent eight years with Bouygues/Dragages ET Travaux Publics as development director, responsible for the company's strategic and business development in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. "Angus Cheng is an experienced development specialist who has extensive knowledge of Hong Kong and its regional market, in addition to having worked with Disney for several years on a large-scale international project," said Timur F. Galen, Imagineering's senior vice president and managing director for Hong Kong. "Angus' expertise in business strategy, real estate development, design and construction will be an invaluable asset to our entire team as we move forward on Hong Kong Disneyland."
