Netflix’s ‘Geeked Week 2023’ Showcase Day 3 Roundup

AWN and VFXWorld's final programming update shares even more big title reveals and announcements for 10 of the streamer’s upcoming film and series projects, including ‘Damsel,’ ‘Dead Boy Detectives,’ ‘Exploding Kittens,’ and ‘Terminator: The Anime Series.’

Netflix’s Geeked Week 2023 kicked off Monday, November 6, with the week-long virtual event highlighting the most anticipated genre titles across films, series, and games. 

A cavalcade of film and series projects have already been announced, teased, or revealed, including ‘Arcane,’ ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory,’ ‘Blue Eyes Samurai,’ ‘The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep,’ and many, many more. Netflix continued to wow on Saturday.

Netflix dropped a first-look teaser trailer for the highly anticipated live-action dark fantasy feature, streaming in 2024. The project stars Millie Bobby Brown as Princess Elodie, who fight for her survival after she is sacrificed to a dragon to repay an ancient royal debt. Watch some damsel v. dragon goodness here.

The Archies

The cast of the live-action film take an Archies trivia test in a new clip. Set in the 1960’s India in the fictional hill station town called Riverdale, the feature is a coming-of-age musical following the beloved teens Archie, Betty, Veronica, jughead, Reggie, Ethel, and Dilton, and streams December 7.

Dead Boy Detectives

Netflix has announced and dropped a teaser trailer for the next series installment in "The Sandman Universe" franchise, based on the comic from Neil Gaiman. The project follows two dead teens born decades apart who find each other in the afterlife to pursue their shared hobby of mystery-solving. Have a spooky good time with the trailer here.

Sonic Prime

Netflix dropped an exclusive clip for the 3DCG animated series following Sonic and Shadow as they join forces to take on Alpha Grim Sonic. Sonic will be forced to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his friends and enemies alike when the series speeds onto Netflix in 2024.

Exploding Kittens

A first look teaser trailer was shown, revealing Tom Ellis as God Cat in the adult animated comedy series based on the best-selling card game, coming in 2024. The eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell reaches epic proportions when both God and the Devil are sent to Earth – in the bodies of chunky house cats.

Devil May Cry

The exclusive featurette ‘Creator BTS Featurette’ was shared for the highly anticipated anime series, starring creator Adi Shankar as he gives a look at the making of the project. The upcoming 8-episode adaptation of the popular Capcom game tells the story of Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire who holds the fates of the human and demon realms in his hands. Studio MIR animates and Capcom produces the series streaming in 2024.

Terminator: The Anime Series

Netflix dropped the official announcement teaser trailer for the anime series from Skydane, Production I.G. & Mattson Tomlin, coming soon. The eight-part series will be part of the Terminator universe, but will center around new character Malcom Lee, a scientist in 1997 who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity.

One Piece

Things got a bit silly with a blooper reel for the live-action series based on Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga series. One Piece streams now. Get ready for a laugh on the high seas!

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off

The official trailer was dropped for the anime series, based on the graphic novel by Bryan Lee O'Malley and featuring the original voice cast from the live-action film. In the show, Scott meets the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, but learns he must defeat her seven evil exes to date her. Then things get even more complicated! Witness the beginnings of an epic love story here.

Gyeongseong Creature

Netflix has announced that Part 1 of the live-action series set in 1945 Gyeongseong during Japanese rule over Korea will stream December 22. In the series, two young adults confront a strange creature born of greed, and battle against it for survival.
