The new series, which takes place after the events of the most recent ‘Tomb Raider’ trilogy of games and follows the adventurer after she ‘has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures,’ debuts October 10.
Netflix and Legendary Television’s upcoming anime series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, based on the Square Enix hit global game franchise, will debut on the streamer October 10. The series has already been picked up for a second season.
In the series, which takes place after the events of the most recent Tomb Raider trilogy of games, Lara Croft has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures. But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection. Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self, and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.
Starring Hayley Atwell (Captain America, Mission Impossible 7) as the voice of Ms. Croft, the project also features the voice talents of Allen Maldonado (Heels, The Wonder Years) as tech expert and colleague Zip, and Earl Baylon, who reprises his role from the video game as the voice of Lara’s friend and voice of reason, Jonah Maiava.
The animation is being produced by Powerhouse Animation Studio, with Brad Graeber serving as executive producer.
Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja) serves as writer and executive producer, alongside Dmitri M. Johnson; Timothy I. Stevenson; Jacob Robinson; Dallas Dickinson; Noah Hughes; Howard Bliss; and Jen Chambers. Legendary Television produces.
