Nelvana & Weta Combine CG Talents On Jane And The Dragon

Corus Ent.s Nelvana has announced a co-production agreement with Weta Workshop for the comedy-adventure series JANE AND THE DRAGON. The 26x30 animated show, based on the book series by writer Martin Baynton, will be targeted to the six to 11-year-old audience.

Set in Medieval times, the series follows the exploits of 13-year-old girl, Jane, who is a Knight of the Kings Guard that keeps a giant green dragon in her backyard.

"JANE AND THE DRAGON has a truly unique look and quality that will resonate with broadcasters and our audience," said Scott Dyer, evp of production and development, Nelvana. "Nelvana is thrilled to be a part of this project, and were particularly excited to be in collaboration with Weta. This partnership promises to be a great experience for Nelvanas CGI studio, and were looking forward to working with Richard Taylor and the rest of the talented Weta team."

Richard Taylor of Weta Workshop comments, "Over the past seven years we have enjoyed a wonderful opportunity to create a fantastical world around the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien. It is therefore a great treat to be able to create our own world for Jane and her Dragon. Through our partnership with Nelvana, Weta will carry on creating magical places and exciting characters for a very special audience."
