NBCU Realigns Global Networks

NBC Universal Global Networks today unveiled an integrated organizational structure, following the acquisition of Sparrowhawk Media in October. The organization has been realigned over the past weeks in order to support the growth of NBCU's globally recognized channel brands - Sci Fi, 13th Street, Universal Channel, Studio Universal, the international Hallmark channels, Diva TV, Movies 24 and a stake in KidsCo.

The NBCU Global Networks Channel Operations team will be headed by four regional Managing Directors. Francois Roux is appointed MD, EMEA, whose role comprises oversight of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, including channel operations in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, South Africa, Benelux, the Nordic region and Central & Eastern Europe. Under Roux's leadership, Luca Cadura remains as MD Italy; Carolina Godayol as MD Spain, and Colin McLeod as MD, Central & Eastern Europe. MDs for France and Germany have yet to be appointed. Existing channel operations in Scandinavia, South Africa and Benelux will be managed via existing offices.

A search will be conducted for the position of MD U.K., which is managed as a significant stand-alone key territory. Meanwhile, Eleanor McBrien continues her role as MD, Sci Fi UK along with other channel duties, and Maya Bhose (Marketing Director) and Mark Lawrence (Director of Global Acquisitions) retain their key functional roles.

Raymund Miranda is confirmed as MD Asia, based in Singapore with a growth remit for Japan, Korea and other key Asian territories. Steve Patscheck is also confirmed as MD Latin America, leading expansion operations in this key region.

Sparrowhawk senior executives David Elstein, Alison Cornwell and Keith Porritt will stay with the company for a brief transition period.

A Central Functional Team has been put in place to support the channel operations, comprising: Greg Matson -- SVP, Business Development, who manages all channel launches in new territories and works to enhance existing commercial relationships, and Paul Newman -- VP, Technical Operations, who will begin his role in January as the key contact between channel operations and technical playout, supported by Wendy Woods (Director of International Broadcast Operations) and Sarah King (Director, Broadcast Services).The newly created roles of VP, Programming and VP, Marketing and Creative Services are yet to be filled.

Roma Khanna, President Global Networks and Digital Initiatives, NBC Universal Global Networks, is supported by a corporate team based in London which includes: Kevin Obi -- SVP, Digital Assets, who leads the strategy and development of NBCU's branded digital assets in the international market; Oliver Canning -- VP, Business & Legal Affairs, providing full legal support around international growth strategy (reporting to Greg Matson) and Alex Bonnor-Moris -- VP, Human Resources, providing HR support to the division.

Also joining at this time is Diane Klein as CFO, Global Networks, a highly experienced finance professional, who served most recently as SVP, Finance & CFO of NBCU's Network Entertainment division in Burbank, U.S. In this role, she oversaw finance for NBC's primetime, latenight, daytime and digital dayparts. She also previously held senior finance positions at Universal Television and Fox Ent. in the U.S.
