TORONTO -- Visual effects studio Mr. X has announced that founder Dennis Berardi will take on the role of Chief Creative Officer. Owned by Technicolor, Mr. X is emerging as one of the top brands in film and series episodic VFX with recent credits including Godless, Tomb Raider and Fahrenheit 451, while currently in production with Hellboy, the sequel to Goosebumps, and Shazam!, as well as the third and final season of A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Lisa Sepp-Wilson will join Mr. X in August as Global MD. Sepp-Wilson is a seasoned VFX industry professional, having founded and run Anthem Visual Effects in Vancouver as the company’s CFO. More recently she was the Head of VFX Production for Legend 3D|VR|VFX. She is also a member of the board of the Visual Effects Society and an active member of Women in Film – Toronto. Sepp-Wilson will continue to expand Mr. X’s offerings globally and manage the day-to-day operations.

“This is an exciting time for Mr. X, and I am delighted to be taking on the role of Global Managing Director<‘ Sepp-Wilson commented. “With our already great client base, world-class visual effects work, and outstanding people, I can’t wait to lead Mr. X into our next phase of growth as part of the Technicolor family.”

Berardi will continue to build on the very principles he envisioned when he founded Mr. X in 2001, with a focus on design-based, visual storytelling in an authentic creative environment -- an environment that allows artists to do their best work. Today, that vision encompasses more than 400 people across Toronto, Montreal and Bangalore.

“I am excited that Lisa will be joining Mr. X to oversee the global management and operations of the business. Thanks to the investment Technicolor has made towards our artists and staff, the quality of our work has never been better, and the industry has taken notice. The slate of work for 2018 and 2019 is incredibly exciting and my focus will be on ensuring we deliver on the director’s creative vision and with the highest quality across all projects,” Berardi said.

“Following our work on the Academy Award-winning The Shape of Water, Guillermo Del Toro has entrusted Mr. X with two of the upcoming films that he is producing -- Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Antlers,” Berardi continued. “In addition, I am fortunate to be one the creative Producers on Paul W. S. Anderson’s Monster Hunter. These projects along with our work on Vikings, The Boys, and others will allow us to display and flex our now considerable creative muscle.”
