MPC Details Plans for FMX 2015

MPC’s Film and Advertising teams will be presenting their extensive VFX work and recruiting for new talent at FMX 2015. Scheduled events include “CG Creature Showcase – Monty’s Christmas and a Black Swan” with MPC’s Head of 3D Advertising Carsten Keller, “Pipeline for Feature Film VFX” with Hannes Ricklefs, MPC’s Head of Software, “Commanding the Exodus” with MPC’s Head of Crowd and MoCap Adam Davis, and “MPC Motion Design -- From Small Beginnings to Big Ideas” with Motion Graphics Director and Senior Designer William MacNeil.

CG Creature Showcase – Monty’s Christmas and a Black Swan
Wednesday, May 6, Meidinger-Saal, 11:00 - 12:00
Head of 3D Advertising Carsten Keller will present some of MPC’s latest photo-real feathered creatures, going into detail on the development of the standout star of John Lewis’s 2014 Christmas commercial, “Monty the Penguin,” as well as a majestic black swan, the showpiece of MacLaren’s latest spot.

Pipeline for Feature Film VFX
Wednesday, May 6, Meidinger-Saal, 15:30 - 16:30
Hannes Ricklefs, MPC’s Head of Software, will provide an overview of MPC’s VFX production pipeline. This talk will show some real world production examples to demonstrate the importance of a unified vocabulary in the world of feature film VFX. Over the past year MPC’s pipeline delivered shots as lead studio on Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men: Days of Future Past, Cinderella and Maleficent and is currently working on movies including Disney's The Jungle Book, Batman V Superman, Terminator Genisys, The Fantastic Four and The Martian.

Commanding the Exodus

This year, MPC’s Head of Crowd and MoCap, Adam Davis will take a look at how MPC’s team crushed Pharaoh armies & led over 600,000 slaves to freedom for the biblical epic Exodus: Gods & Kings. Davis will describe the artistic and technical challenges behind building the massive crowd armies required to fulfill Ridley Scott's vision for the movie.

MPC Motion Design -- From Small Beginnings to Big Ideas
Friday, May 8, Raum Karlsruhe, 12:00 - 13:00
William MacNeil, Motion Graphics Director and Senior Designer at the MPC Motion Design Studio will team up with Maxon, creator of Cinema 4D for this talk. The Motion Design Studio is home to some of the most highly accomplished creative designers and motion graphics artists working today. During this talk William will cover recent projects for Bentley, the ZDF netwok and adidas, looking at the design challenges faced and how Cinema 4D and an arsenal of plugins were utilised to meet them.

MPC is Hiring!

MPC will once again be on the recruitment trail at FMX, hiring for roles both in the U.K. and Canada. The company is currently working on crewing up for some amazing projects including The Jungle Book, Fantastic Four, The Finest Hours and a few more unannounced blockbusters that they can tell you about at their recruitment booth, Booth E4 in Eyth-Saal, 2. OG. Aufbauten Recruiting Hub between Tuesday and Friday.

For even more of an inside track, potential applicants are encouraged to attend Ben Owen’s recruitment presentation on Tuesday at 12pm in Raum Reutlingen. Owen will run through some of the great shows MPC has delivered in recent years as well as sharing exclusive insights on new projects and the lowdown on current openings. On Friday at the booth, MPC is hosting a Student Info Day, which will include a showreel surgery, advice on different VFX disciplines, and anything else attendees want to ask about embarking on a career in VFX.

Running May 5-8, in Stuttgart, Germany, FMX is Europe’s leading conference on animation, effects, games and transmedia. This year’s edition celebrates the conference’s 20th Anniversary with spotlights on Pixar, ILM and Weta Digital, as well as immersive and virtual reality technologies.
