The Mouse House Takes Flight On Alaska Airlines

The Eskimo that has had a place on the tail of all Alaska Airlines aircraft for over a quarter century is stepping down from one plane to make room for some popular Disney characters. Alaska Airlines has launched the "Spirit of Disneyland" Boeing 737-400 aircraft, which features the faces of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy painted on a bright blue background. The aircraft made its inaugural flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to John Wayne-Orange County Airport on Monday, December 16, 2002. In addition to the painted characters, the words "We're going to Disneyland" adorn the aircraft. Inside, graphics and printed messages from Disney characters decorate the overhead bins and there is a commemorative plaque at the forward door. The Disney-themed jet will fly throughout most of Alaska Airlines' route system, including flights to and from Southern California airports.
