Montreal Stop Motion Film Fest Starts Friday

The fourth edition of the Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival opens Friday evening, and includes 73 animated Stop Motion short films from 22 countries.

The fourth edition of the Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival begins this week, running October 19 – 21 at Concordia University’s Alexandre de Sève Theatre (1453 Mackay Street, Montreal).

This year’s festival opens Friday evening and includes 73 animated Stop Motion short films from 22 countries. With comedy, drama, suspense, romance and even Science fiction there is something for everyone.

In addition to film screenings, the Festival is an essential meeting spot for industry professionals.  And this year, industry professionals and Stop Motion enthusiasts will be joined by some of the most famous animated characters in the world, including:

Wallace & Gromit, Coraline, Norman and the Pirate Captain!

This is a truly unique opportunity to see the puppets from some of the most memorable animated films up close and personal.

Talks during the Festival include:

  • ParaNorman : Mark Shapirofrom LAIKA Studio: Friday, October 19 at 7h30 pm.
  • Wallace &t Gromit :Merlin Crossingham from Aardman Animations. Saturday October 20 at 7h30pm.

The Free Family Screenings are back this year. Families are invited to the de Sève Theatre Saturday and Sunday from 11h to 12h to watch PG rated films selected from this year’s submissions. After the screening, there will be hands-on pods where young filmmakers can try their hands at animate with the help of Stop Motion Animators.
