The Bangkok studio’s latest original, selected as a Mifa Campus 2023 finalist, is a co-production with Hong Kong toy design and manufacturer Unbox Industries.
Bangkok-based The Monk Studios’ latest original project, The Adventures of Tumbi, has been selected as a finalist at the upcoming Annecy Festival and Market (Mifa) Campus 2023 and will be shared at the festival in June. The project is a co-production between The Monk Studios and Unbox Industries, a leading toy design and manufacturer headquartered in Hong Kong.
Founded in 2006 by 30-year CGI industry veteran Juck Somsaman, the studio now boasts a large team of experienced artists and offers a range of production services from script to screen, with creative teams worldwide. Its creative associates include Toy Story animator Mark Oftedal and, most recently, while working on Wish Dragon (2021), veteran animation feature producer Aron Warner.
The company’s credits include animation and VFX projects such as Prime Video's Carnival Row (2023), and early shorts, such as Escape of the Gingerbread Man (2011), Nine (2014), and Mariam and Friends (2022). More recently, the studio’s first original kids animated series Sea of Love (2022), was produced in partnership with Netflix.
