Mindshow Names Laura Hilker Creative Executive

Bringing extensive industry experience, the former Aha Media exec joins the CG animation production company that boasts cutting edge software merging video game tech with VFX and machine learning.

CG animation production company Mindshow has announced the addition of Laura Hilker as its new Creative Executive. Hilker co-founded Aha Media, a mission-driven media company that creates, develops, and produces original content with emerging talent in underserved communities, focusing on Women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ creators. She later launched The Aha Network, an educational streaming platform that highlights industry creatives knowledge-sharing with the next generation of artists.

Prior to Aha, Hilker worked at The Tornante Company, where she helped develop the Emmy-nominated adult animated series, BoJack Horseman; prior to that, she was at Fox Television Animation for five years where her credits included Family Guy and American Dad, working in the writers’ room on the Family Guy spin-off, The Cleveland Show.

Mindshow is built on proprietary software that merges video game technology, visual effects, and machine learning that produces animation at the same speed as live-action. The first application of this process was used in the production of Mattel’s popular Enchantimals and a Storybots special for Netflix documenting a private mission to space.

“Mindshow is on the cutting edge of animation, with incredible IP!” commented Hilker. “I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity to work in Web 2 and Web 3. I’ve long admired Sharon and Gil’s work and cannot wait to dive in with them and create some incredible stories.”

CEO Gil Baron and President Sharon Bordas, in a joint statement, said, “We are thrilled to have Laura join the Mindshow family. Her creativity, innovative thinking, and breadth of experience make her a natural fit for our growing team.  Mindshow is the future of animation and we all cannot wait to have her imaginative storytelling onboard.”
