Michel Ocelot's Azur Et Asmar Wins Sprockets

The 10th annual Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival for Children announced 10 awards on April 22, 2007, at the Sprockets Awards ceremony at the Winter Garden Theatre. Four awards were decided upon by children's juries (three designated for feature films, one for shorts), two audience awards were determined by festival goers, three awards for Jump Cuts Young Filmmakers Showcase were decided by a jury of film industry professionals and one Students Choice Award was determined by high school students attending the festival. Some 25,000 children and family members came out to the festival, seeing 98 films from 28 countries.

"It's been a wonderful 10th anniversary for Sprockets," said Jane Schoettle, director of Youth Education and Sprockets. "With a diverse selection of films, guests from all over the world, and engaging workshops, Sprockets has been a huge success. We'd like to thank our enthusiastic audiences, our devoted volunteers and sponsors, both public and corporate, for their ongoing support. We look forward to another 10 years at Sprockets."

Sprockets' festival-goers selected Michel Ocelot's AZUR ET ASMAR (France) for the Audience Choice Award -- Best Animated Film.
