metricminds Extends Mo-Cap Arsenal with New OptiTrack System

Alongside a Vicon system, Frankfurt-based motion capture studio acquires new 68 camera-OptiTrack System.

FRANKFURT, GERMANY -- With nearly 15 years’ experience in motion capture, animations and in-engine cutscenes, the Germany based studio metricminds has added a brand new OptiTrack system featuring a total of 68 cameras.  Alongside with their Vicon System, metricminds has acquired a tool set that allows the state of the art studio to do outdoor capturing as well as recording up to 12 actors with props.

SportRadar, a Swiss based expert in sports data and digital content, is metricminds’ first client to use their brand new technology, having hired the Frankfurt studio to capture complex soccer plays. The studio set up a gigantic capture volume with a 25m diameter at a temporary location.

“The new system enables us to go further than ever before by making our capture volumes larger. The decision to keep the Vicon system allows us to do uncomplicated remote setups and to capture in two locations at the same time,” commented Philip Weiss, managing partner, metricminds.

metricminds joins a list of OptriTrack clients that encompasses names such as Activision, Microsoft Games Studios, Eidos, Ubisoft, Crytek, DICE, among many others.
