The film, which follows the half-human, half-vampire Eric Brooks as he seeks revenge for the death of his mother, will no longer debut on November 7, 2025; Mahershala Ali is still expected to star alongside Mia Goth in an undisclosed role.
In the wise words of Wesley Snipes in the recent blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine, “There’s only been one Blade. There will only ever be one Blade.”
Trouble has once again struck Marvel’s Blade reboot. After losing multiple directors, undergoing multiple script re-writes, and delays causing multiple other film pushbacks, the production has now been completely wiped from the Disney release calendar, according to Variety. Once slated for a November 7, 2025 debut, the slot has now been filled by Predator: Badlands.
All hope is not lost, however, as Marvel has added three untitled projects to the schedule for February 18, 2028, May 5, 2028, and November 10, 2028. Perhaps the badass vamp hunter will slice into theaters in 2028 instead.
The original story of Blade follows half-human, half-vampire Eric Brooks, who seeks revenge for the death of his mother at the hands (or fangs) of vampires. Mahershala Ali takes over the role of the eponymous vampire slayer Brooks first portrayed by Wesley Snipes in the original 1998 film of the same name, as well as Blade II (2002) and Blade: Trinity (2004).
Eric Pearson is still on board to pen the script, following previous writers Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo and Nic Pizzolatto. Mahershala Ali is still expected to star alongside Mia Goth in an undisclosed role.
While the project is still deep in development, we do know VFX will be created by Clear Angle Studios, Digital Domain, Industrial Light & Magic, and Sony Pictures Imageworks, with Marten Larsson acting as production visual effects supervisor.
