Mark Hamill will be sitting in the director's chair for an adaptation of his own comic series THE BLACK PEARL, reports VARIETY. Berkeley Square Films is financing and producing the $7 million production.

Fourteen years ago, Hamill first wrote the comic as a screenplay. He adapted the comic again with screenwriters Paul Tamasy (THE FIGHTER) and comic co-writer Eric Johnson. The story follows an average man named Luther Drake who saves a woman from being kidnapped, following which he becomes a masked vigilante.
