MAKE Originals Shines Light on ‘Alone in the Darkness’ Music Video

South American indie band SIAMÉS animated short for new album ‘Melodramatic’ brings darkness to life in minimalist and stark compositions with hand-drawn 2D animation.

Indie studio MAKE Originals was tapped by South American indie rock/pop band SIAMÉS to create Alone in the Darkness, directed by Danny Robashkin with Barbie Williams as lead singer, an animated music video inspired by the sixth track of the band’s new album Melodramatic, now available.

Alone In The Darkness illustrates how “at some point or another, everyone must confront their demons, fears, and anxieties. In the music video, the theater of the mind becomes the stage where one exits the darkness and steps into the light.”

Creatively, MAKE Originals weaves the visual motif of darkness into the video’s art direction and animation. From the beginning, the artist team treated light as a scarce resource, drawing inspiration from film noir cinematography. The animation is lush despite the minimal and stark compositions, with hand-drawn 2D animation bringing the darkness to life.

Melodramatic, recorded at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas, introduces lead singers Williams and Sergio Bufi (aka Serge) marking the beginning of "The Melodramatic Era." Brian Taylor oversaw mixing and production details in Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Matt Colton mastered the recordings in London, UK.

To celebrate the release of Melodramatic, SIAMÉS is embarking on their most extensive live tour in 31 cities across Europe, North America, and South America. Learn more here.
