Macromedia announces revenues increase

Macromedia (NASDAQ:MACR) has announced a 47% increase in revenues for thefourth quarter ended March 31, 1999. Revenues for the fourth quarter were$44,097,000 as compared with $30,012,000 in the same period a year ago.Gross profit increased 44% to $39,867,000 as compared with $27,653,000 inthe fourth quarter a year ago. Net income rose to $7,343,000, or $0.16 pershare, during the fourth fiscal 1999 quarter, compared to net income of$1,991,000, or $0.05 per share, a year ago.

Revenues for the fiscal year ended March 31, 1999 increased 33%, totaling$149,886,000 as compared with $113,086,000 a year ago. For the twelve-monthperiod, gross profit increased 38% to $135,600,000 as compared with$98,089,000 in the same period a year ago. Net income for the fiscal yearreached $19,784,000, or $0.44 per share, as compared with a net loss of$6,186,000, or $0.16 per share, in fiscal year 1998.

"1999 was a successful year for Macromedia as the acceptance of productslike Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks, Generator and Pathware accelerated ourgrowth," said Rob Burgess, Macromedia's chairman and chief executiveofficer.
