Press Release from Machinima

LOS ANGELES, CA – September 21, 2011 – Machinima, the number one video entertainment brand for gamers around the world, today announced the launch of a new original series, “RCVR.” Premiering today, the six episode sci-fi mystery series, written, directed and produced by noted digital entertainment creator David van Eyssen through his production company, Science To Fiction, will debut new episodes on Wednesdays and be exclusively sponsored by Motorola Mobility.  The announcement was made by Allen DeBevoise, Chairman and CEO of Machinima.

“We are thrilled to be releasing this innovative project, which is emblematic of the type of premium content our network now has the ability to release,” said Allen DeBevoise, Chairman and CEO of Machinima.  “It’s a true collaboration between a creative force like David, a world class revolutionary brand like Motorola, and the power of our global audience of 85 million targeted, highly engaged young males.  We believe we’re now at a stage in the evolution of video programming where the next generation is actually upon us. We are excited to bring long form, premium content to our gamer audiences who are equally as fanatic about horror, sci-fi, comedy and action. We have seen such great success in doing this with ‘Bite Me’ as a zombie comedy and ‘Mortal Kombat: Legacy’ as an action series, so now we are bringing sci-fi in to the mix.”

“RCVR leverages the social and interactive features of the web to engage users in a world of government conspiracy and UFO folklore in ways that naturally extend online behavior,” explained David van Eyssen. “Our goal was to rethink storytelling as a narrative one-way street, inviting users to explore, discover and share much as they would in a game – or social network. We’re grateful to have found like-minded partners in both Machinima and Motorola, companies that understand how deeply technology affects our lives.”

“We are always looking for interesting new ways to reach fans,” said Jean Pierre Le Cannellier, vice president, Americas marketing, Motorola Mobility. “Our collaboration with Machinima allows us to not only support, but be an integral part of a daring new series that we know tech enthusiasts will love.”

“RCVR,” set in 1973, follows a black-ops unit engaged in covering up extraterrestrial encounters and locating individuals (RCVRs) who possess startling information communicated to them by alien beings. The first season, based on alleged true events, takes place in rural Arkansas.  In addition to the six episodes on Machinima, the audience experience will further expand with seeded websites that exist both within the show and in reality, and viral videos, giving the viewer active participation in the mystery and a deeper connection between historical events and the “RCVR” mythology.  The series stars newcomer, Daniel Bonjour in the role of RCVR hunter, Luke Weber. “RCVR” is produced by van Eyssen’s longtime collaborator, multi-platform producer Tavin Marin Titus, whose over 15 years in film, TV and New Media career includes the celebrated documentary, “Who Killed The Electric Car?” “X-Men: First Class”, and Emmy nominated “Mammoth.” Cinematography is by Joost van Starrenburg. RCVR is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
