On the heels of a major reshuffling of RAI’s channel lineup, kids’ division increases the scope of its creative responsibilities.
The Italian public broadcaster RAI has announced the appointment of Luca Milano as head of the kids’ division, Rai Ragazzi. The announcement came on the heels of a board meeting which resulted in a major shakeup and reshuffling of all of RAI’s main TV channels. New directors were named for Rai1, Rai2 and Rai3 as well as for other key departments.
Under the new industrial plan, the company will now be organized by genres as opposed to TV Channels. The kid’s division, now headed by Milano, will be responsible for creating content for all of Rai’s offerings for children, including its free VOD service RAI Play. It will continue to create content for TV channels Rai Yoyo (preschool) and Rai Gulp (kids) and will eventually provide children’s programs for its generalist TV Channels.
Milano, who has been with the company since June 2019, is executive director of Rai Ragazzi and chairperson of the Kids Media group of EBU, the association of European public broadcasters.
