The Look Finishes Integration of Mistika Workflows into VFX Production Pipeline

The London-based post facility’s use of SGO’s advanced automated workflow yields increased efficiency, reduced manual interventions, and uncompromised quality.

London-based post-production facility, The Look, announced the successfully integration of SGOʼs Mistika Workflows into their production environment. The facility notes the workflow’s advanced automation capabilities have enhanced the efficiency and productivity of their VFX pipeline by significantly reducing manual interventions, and allowing delivery of VFX projects, under tight deadlines, without sacrificing the standard of quality.

"We have been very impressed by the flexibility of Mistika Workflows," said The Look CEO Thomas Urbye. "SGO has created a solution that serves as a sandbox for companies like ours, enabling us to discover tailored solutions for our specific needs. Initially, we approached SGO to help us develop a customized version of Mistika Workflows to address a challenge we faced automating the transcoding of camera RAW rushes into EXR, while preserving all the essential metadata for various VFX vendors."

The Look collaborated closely with SGO to achieve significant improvements workflow automation. The editorial teams they partner with, can now deliver their own EDLs to a designated watch-folder within Mistika Workflows. From there, EXR files are automatically created and seamlessly shared with the respective VFX vendors, eliminating the need for manual processing, and significantly increasing operational efficiency across multiple projects.

“Mistika Workflows has been a game changer for us," added Urbye. “We are currently exploring further automation possibilities, including conforms and deliverables, leveraging our in-house Python expertise alongside the bespoke custom development offered by SGO."
