Live-Action Wind in the Willows Blows into Weta

Weta Workshop has been hired by RG Ent. to work on its live-action/animatronic version of THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS, reports VARIETY. Production will take place in New Zealand.

RG Ent.'s head Ray Griggs is directing and producing from a script by Bill Marsilii (DEJA VU). Richard Taylor is the special effects supervisor and Kim Sinclair is production designing.

Based on Kenneth Grahame story, the plot follows friends, Mole, Rat, Badger and Toad on a series of adventures. In the script, the foursome team to protect their land from mankind.

Private funds are financing the production. The same technique used for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE will be deployed where humans will act out the role in costumes with the faces replaced with digital versions.
