Producer Amy Pascal confirmed that a live-action movie following Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spidey is in development, as well as a ‘Spider-Woman’ film featuring the voice of Hailee Steinfeld.
Now this is a live-action project we can get behind! Just in time to bask in the glow of the huge opening of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, producer Amy Pascal has confirmed to Variety that a live-action Miles Morales movie is in development, stating, “You’ll see all of it,” then adding “It’s all happening.”
In the new hit animated flick Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood Spidey Miles Morales is catapulted across the Multiverse and encounters the team of Spider-People charged with protecting the Multiverse’s very existence. When the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must set out on his own to save those he loves most. Anyone can wear the mask – it’s how you wear it that makes you a hero.
The film stars Shameik Moore; Hailee Steinfeld; Jake Johnson; Issa Rae; Daniel Kaluuya; Karan Soni; Jason Schwartzman; Brian Tyree Henry; Luna Lauren Velez; Greta Lee; Rachel Dratch; Jorma Taccone; Shea Whigham; and Oscar Isaac.
Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson co-direct the film, which is written by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham. Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Lord, Miller, and Christina Steinberg are producing. Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman, Aditya Sood, Rebecca Karch, and Brian Bendis executive produce.
Also confirmed by Pascal is a Spider-Woman film starring Hailee Steinfeld, which producer Avi Arad teased will come “sooner than you expect.”
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is now web-slinging in theaters.
