Press Release from Little Airplane Productions

NEW YORK, February 16 - First you can see them on the big screen and then you can download the iPhone ebook.  They are Home Fry, Olaf, Ruby and Nate, the four adorable animated spud stars of "Small Potatoes." The new short film is created by Little Airplane Productions, the New York City based producer of acclaimed television programming for young viewers.  The "Small Potatoes" short films all feature original songs, with each one written in entirely different musical styles, including Salsa, Reggae, Ska, Hip Hop and Blues.  Through musical exploration, "Small Potatoes" helps young audiences discover imaginative play and music appreciation as they learn about the world around them.

"Small Potatoes" makes its big screen premiere at the 12th annual BAMkids Film Festival (www.bam.org) in Brooklyn at BAM Rose Cinemas, 30 Lafayette Avenue, later this month.  BAMkids Film Festival is presented in association with the Chicago International Children's Film Festival, 1517 West Fullerton Ave., Chicago, IL 60614-2096, Nicole Dreiske, curator. The "Small Potatoes" film "Imagination (Give it a Try)" screens on Saturday, February 27th and Sunday, February 28th at 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. A Q&A session with Little Airplane President Josh Selig follows the screenings.

Tickets to the BAMkids screening can be ordered online at BAM.org, by calling 718.777.FILM, or by visiting the BAM Rose Cinemas Box Office (opens a half-hour before first screening of the day; opens at 9am on days of festival).

Little Airplane has also teamed up with the content technology company Scrollmotion, the company behind the Iceberg Reader, to bring "Small Potatoes" to the iPhone.  The "Small Potatoes" ebook, also featuring "Imagination (Give it a Try)," is an eight page musical story, available for exclusive downloads for iPhone and iPod Touch users. The ebook also allows users to record their own voice using the iPhone microphone.

"The Small Potatoes are The Beatles of the fresh produce aisle," said Selig.  "After seeing this film, you will never look at a french fry the same way again."
