The High Court in London issued an injunction against Moshi Monsters' cartoon character Lady Goo Goo, a parody of Lady Gaga, writes the Hollywood Reporter. Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy must now stop "promoting, advertising, selling, distributing or otherwise making available to the public The Moshi Dance or any musical work or video which purports to be performed by a character by the name of Lady Goo Goo, or which otherwise uses the name Lady Goo Goo or any variant thereon." Lady Gaga argued that the character would confuse consumers.

The Moshi Monsters website allows kids 6-12 to adopt and play games with a variety of cartoon characters, including the baby Lady Goo Goo. Around the world 50 million people use the site.

Mind Candy founder Michael Acton Smith tweeted today that "The ruling could set a dangerous precedent in trademark law impacting tribute bands and parody songs. Not a good day for creatives."
