Kristofferson Swims with Dolphin Tale 3D

Kris Kristofferson has signed onto Alcon Ent.'s DOLPHIN TALE, reports Variety.

Kris Kristofferson has signed onto Alcon Ent.'s DOLPHIN TALE, reports Variety. He joins Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman and Harry Connick Jr.

The story follows a boy who encourages his community to help save a dolphin named Winter, who lost her tail after getting caught in a crab trap. He finds a doctor willing to make a prosthetic fin to help the dolphin swim again. Noam Dromi devised the treatment for the true-life story. Karen Janszen (A WALK TO REMEMBER) penned the script with rewrites from director Charles Martin Smith and Jordan Roberts.

Alcon heads Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson and Alcon marketing president Richard Ingber are producing. Steven Wegner, head of development at Alcon, and Robert Engelman are exec producing.

Warner Bros. is set to release the film on Sept. 16, 2011.
