King Lords Over Golden Globes

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING was crowned victorious at the 2004 Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 25, 2004. The final installment in the RINGS trilogy won the top drama prize for Best Film along with Best Director (Peter Jackson), Best Original Score (Howard Shore) and Best Original Song (Howard Shore, Fran Walsh and Annie Lennox). FINDING NEMO lost out in the Best Comedy or Musical category to the indie sensation LOST IN TRANSLATION.

For visual effects in TV, the two-part mini-series ANGELS IN AMERICA swept all the categories it was nominated in, including Best TV Movie or Mini-Series, Best Actor in a TV Movie or Mini-Series (Al Pacino), Best Actress in a TV Movie or Mini-Series (Meryl Streep), Best Supporting Actor (Jeffery Wright) and Best Supporting Actress (Mary Louise Parker).
