King of the Hill Might Go To ABC

On the heels of FOX's cancellation of KING OF THE HILL, at least one network has expressed interest in picking it up for a 14th season, per VARIETY.

Insiders at 20th Century Fox confirmed to VARIETY that a network was interested, largely believed to be ABC. The show would make a good companion piece to the network's upcoming animated comedy THE GOODE FAMILY, the shows have the same exec producers (Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky) and it is likely too expensive to get a pickup at a cable network like Comedy Central, FX or Cartoon Network.

FOX has learned, through long years of trial and error, that animated half-hour comedies work best when programmed with like programming. And, despite KING OF THE HILL's best ratings in a year last week (4.3 rating and 10 share among adults 18-49), FOX is unlikely to change its mind. At 260 episodes, the network wants to retire KING and freshen up the animated lineup.

The stockpile of original KING OF THE HILL episodes means that if ABC or another network picks up a 14th season, new episodes of the show could be aired on two networks at once. However, it would be expected that the new network would wait until FOX's run was over, at least though next fall, to start up their season.
