Kevin Hart Joins ‘Borderlands’ Film Adaptation

The comedic actor will play battle-hardened soldier Roland alongside Cate Blanchett’s thieving Lilith.

It’s happening! The Borderlands game-to-film adaptation, which we previously announced would be directed by Eli Roth, is filling out its cast. Back in May, IGN revealed that Cate Blanchett would play the thieving Lilith. Now, The Hollywood Reporter states Kevin Hart has signed on to play Roland, a more serious role for the comedic actor known for his roles in both The Secret Life of Pets and Jumanji franchises. As Roland, Hart will play a battle-hardened soldier from Promethea; however, given the game franchise’s silly and over-the-top vibe, he should fit in nicely.

According to THR, Roth stated, “I’m thrilled to be working with Kevin. Borderlands is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”

The script will be penned by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and produced by Avi Arad and Ari Arad under their Arad Productions banner, as well as Erik Feig under Picturestart.
